When you were kids, I think just about everyone did this during the craft time.

It's just that it's hard to do for kids and even if successful, flute's sound didn't sound right.  It was just a glorified whistle.

This is why I came up with this product.

It's a small clipper tool that can turn straws easily into flutes with correct pitch.

Please go to the site and vote for me so I have a chance to make it into a real product.

:)

James.

This is for all iPad and Android tablet users!

Please go and vote for me.  100 more and it will be under review!

There are few other products like this out there.  But I believe my idea improves on it.

First of all, most of the part is made out of mesh material that will keep it ventilated.
Secondly, it covers all three fingers (middle, ring, pinky) so the user can use various writing/drawing position.

I appreciate all your help!

Is it just me or have they just given up this year's E3...?

There were some noticeable games announced... But overall, it's like they are not even trying...

Hm... I was really looking forward to this product but it sounds like it has some significant issues.

Bottom line... It sounds like current version of Inkling is like overpriced Beta product...  But if you now how to work around with some issues, it could be a cool tool.

Just like any device with new interface, there are some things with this device that requires users to get used to...

*It uses infrared signal between the pen and the sensor.  So you have to make sure that the sensor does not move around (which makes it less mobile), not let your fingers to get in the way of the sensor, and don't have direct sunlight on where you are sketching (again, makes it hard to work with this outdoor with direct sunlight).

*More you move away from the sensor, the accuracy goes down, I think you will have better chance putting the sensor side way than on top of the sketchbook.

*Do not use the exporter option on the bundled software.  Get the file directly from Photoshop/Illustrator/Sketchup.

This device should have been priced at around $100.  Not $200.

London Life & Aliens: Infestation

London Life is an included game in the latest professor Layton game series.  It was developed by Brownie Brown (maker of Mother 3).  So... naturally, I got the game more for that game...  Not much to say so far.  But I am enjoying it none the less.

Aliens: Infestation is the DS game that was made by Wayforward Technologies some time back... It was put on a back burner until now.  Sega finally released it!  It's a great Metroid/Castlevania style action adventure game.  I am loving it!

Next stop... Arkham City...

This one is a bit tough...

But I think it's coming along...

It's really tough to emulate someone else's style.  Especially female characters...  I hope I can get it down as well as other two I recently have done.

1. No killer titles.  Not even ports of older games.  Perhaps with an exception of Super Street Fighter 4 (but if you have SF4 on other systems, there is no real merit to buy another one on 3DS other than being able to play it anywhere), all titles dont' feel like it's a polished/complete game.  They also fail to convince the public that you need to purchase 3DS.

2. Internal and production issues caused by natural disasters.  (NoA should really use this opportunity to become the production leader of the company.  Not just a marketing front.  But I don't think it will happen).  This results in delayed release of upcoming games.

3. People have seen the upgraded versions such as NDSL and DSi in the past which causes them to hesitate to buy the launch version of the platform.

4. Region locked games.  This perhaps don't really affect the major sales of the market.  But it's a sure way to turn off your first customers (core gamers).

5. Price increase on the hardware and games.

6. Mediocre response on 3D viewing experience.  Although it works well, it take stime for people to get used to it.

7. It's impossible to have people experience 3D unless they get an access to 3DS.  People will not understand what the hoopla is about on traditional method of ads through TV/magazines/internet ads.

8. All the other games included...  AR... Mii... Streetpass... gives more of a casual gimmicky experience.  Once you pass the Wow factor, there is no real merit to it.

9. Bad 3D picture quality taken from the 3D camera.  This could have been a killer feature.  But picture quality is so aweful that it feels more like a child's toy.  Lack of 3D vid capture function also makes it feel like it's just a gimmick.

10. System OS feels undone.  The entire experience feels more like dealing with Beta version than the completed version.  Especially when you click on certain functions and you get prompts that says it will come when the system is upgraded.

I have a very mixed feeling about 3DS...  I will expand on this later...

But I did preorder one at the local Bestbuy...

Biggest problem I am having right now is that none of the launch game is appealing to me...

I would like to get something that really showcase the 3D effect of the hardware.  Only thing I can think of is the Nintendogs/Cats...  -_-

I miss the days when a new Mario game was available at the launch of Nintendo's system...

Even the new Professor Leyton game would have been a good one...

Ghost Recon game seems very interesting.  But I am not too sure non Nintendo games would effectively make use of the 3D technology it's shipping with...

Let me know what 3DS game is appealing to you and why.

Also, please no "Wait for Sony NGP" comments please.  XD

Edit:  Please forgive me for not making it clear.  I meant the US launch games... Not the games announced...

I've been really enjoying Final Fantasy: The 4 Heroes of Light on my DSiXL.

Even though it has some annoying UI issues, it's the only game I played over the break.

Dare I say I am having more fun than DQIX!!!

*Infinity Blade on iPad!
(Lv36 at the time of writing this quick review)
+First legit game on the iPad platform!  Strikes perfect balance between casual and core.  I can't wait for the new areas, enemies and items.
-Although I think the control on this game is very nice.  I still find the touch based control very unresponsive.  I think about anywhere between 20~40% of my control input is either miscalculated or doesn't respond fast enough
-It definitely looks better on the iPhone4 with the lighting option turned on.  Which is shame because it really is betting for bigger screen presentation with all the details.  It rather looks flat on the iPad.  I do wonder what the performance damage would be with that option turned on for the iPad version...

*Final Fantasy: the 4 Heroes of Light.
(Lv+10 at the time of writing this quick review)
+Throw back to the original Final Fantasy formula.
+Akihiko Yoshida's art.  Very well optimized with more simple graphical style that works better on the DS.  I am still amazed with the draw rate of all these different things on the screen.  And I haven't noticed any framerate drops.
+/- I am more on the neutral side on this one with slight tilt toward negative feelings: Many people have been complaining about the limited numbers of items you can carry (15).  Personally, I think this method does keep the game balance better for this particular version of FF.  Considering there is no MP (you have to work with what's called AP and it behaves differently than MPs).  No acquiring money (you sell gems or other items for $$).  And using gems to power up your gears (much like Materia from FFVII), it calls for different kind of item usage.  However, I do wish they separated at least the equipments and magic books from the items.  So 15 slot of items are sorely used for the items only.
-Curious HUD control: It's not as intuitive or clear on how to switch between characters and options.  I mean... it's all there.  But I find it very cumbersome to navigate through the menus.  It's a lot better if you are using the stylus.  But I am too used to playing traditional RPG like this one with just buttons.  Controls are obviously more optimized with stylus control in mind.  And it does work really well using stylus.
-Exclusion of Settings to change text speed, BGM volume etc..
